Hi @Oblondini,
The living-away-from-home allowance is normally a fringe benefit. Let's say you're a labour-hire worker, then it's considered ordinary income and taxed the same as your salary or wage.

It depends on if your employer included the allowance on your income statement or not.
If the allowance is on your income statement, you must report it as income on your tax return. If it's not on your income statement, you don't report it as income if you spent it on deductible expenses.
