This is my first year as a sole trader running a social media marketing business. MyTax will not accept 'Social Media Marketing' as my main business/professional activity. It also won't accept 'Digital Marketer', or 'Content Creator'. I have searched everything I can think of including all options that display when entering 'social' or 'digital' or 'content' or 'marketing' or 'marketer' or 'media' and various other possibilities both in MyTax directly, and within the BIC tool without success. Even entering 'marketing' into the Business Industry Code search tool only displays very obscure options specifically for perfumes, telecommunications and direct marketing, but no options for general marketing services which seems very odd. Is anyone else having this problem? And if so, how did you get past it without spending hours on hold with the ATO.

Hello @Belato,
Usually for content creators for online services they use the business code 90029 other creative artists, writers and performers. This is primarily used as they are considered a media presenter. If this doesn't meet a general description of your business then you can access the business industry code list from the BIC tool page which lists all the codes that you can search through manually.
