I am completely new to business ownership and am wanting to start an online store. I know that I will need to request for ABN, however I'm not sure what should come first. Do I go ahead and register a domain name and then apply for ABN? or the opposite? Also, what next steps to take to ensure that I am properly paying GST? Thank you for steering me in the right direction.

You'll need an ABN first if you want to register a domain. As for GST, you'll only need to register if you fit into one of the categories listed on the register for GST page. Our website has information on what to do before you start your business that can hopefully help you get started.
