I have paid off my HELP loan but have still paid an STSL component throughout this year. Will there be record of the extra tax that was paid throughout the previous financial year and will this extra tax paid be returned to me?

Hi @ LTC23

When you lodge your income tax return, we'll calculate your taxable income and apply all the PAYG credits to your tax obligation.

Any refund you are entitled to will be calculated at the end of the financial year when you lodge your tax return - this includes HECS overpayments.
