I have an old ABN sole trader and got to know GST is not enabled on that. I have called ATO customer care i order to enable that but even after long wait does reach an agent who can help.
so, i there a procedure or steps to follow to do it myself online from my ato website account?

We're sorry you haven't gotten through to speak to someone. During peak periods we are experiencing high call volumes but if you persevere someone will be able to help you.
Great news for you though. If you have your MyGov account linked to us, then you can do your GST registration yourself.
You'll log into your MyGov account > ATO > Tax > Manage > Tax registrations and from here you'll be able to go through the registration process yourself.

You should have a short discussion with an experienced accountant.
Accountants have good knowledge regarding navigation of the arcane processes used by ATO.
