I have been trying different combinations for hours and can’t seem to get any accepted. I’ve read the previous posts and ATO replies saying the issue is resolved, but it’s still not working for me. My registration number is in the format 0001234X/2020. I’ve alternatively tried entering the certificate number (format 00012345678) but that doesn’t work either. What is the correct format to enter the number?

Hello there @Steph1987,

Sorry to hear you are having all this trouble with verifying your birth certificate. They can sometimes be very tricky.

If the format of your certificate is 0001234X/2020, you should drop the X/2020 and only enter the 7 numbers.

Make sure you are entering all other details exactly as they are printed on the certificate.

More information on verifying these kind of documents can be found on the Mygov ID website.

If you are entering all the details correctly, you may need to contact the issuer of the certificate. Sometimes they have incorrect information on file.

Depending on what you are trying to do, you might not need to use the certificate at all. If you could tell us what you need the certificate for, we might be able to give you alternative options.

I hit the wall tonight with this issue and it looks like the Gov Agencies haven't been able to find a solution for the past 2.5 years, so have had a little vent on LinkedIn tonight.

If you are on LinkedIn, and you'd like to comment on their about your frustrations (or just to comment that you've also experienced this issue), then maybe by tagging in a few politicians, a few government agencies, there might be action actually happen with this issue, an issue that from what I can see on these threads, started way back in January of 2022 ( probably when MyGovID was released ).

Anyway.. to get to the post I put on LinkedIn, just search for any of these #tags.
