I have recently moved out of my home, which is now being rented out so I would like to get it valued to get a cost base for future CGT. I'm assuming that appropriate property valuers need to be registered? I've tried to find this info, but not sure how to figure out if they are acceptable property valuers for the ATO purposes.

Thanks for any help that can be given.

Hello @sharonvo,

We would always recommend having valuations undertaken by professional valuers who are registered or licenced to carry out real property valuations under the relevant State, Territory or Commonwealth legislation.

A valuation undertaken by a professional valuer is more credible than those provided by someone who is not a professional valuer (e.g. Registered Tax agent). We have some great information on our webpage Market valuation of assets.
