Hello,

I have been making PAYG instalments during the 22-23 year to avoid a large tax bill.

Ive completed my 22-23 tax return, and the estimate is saying I will receive a refund based on claims and deductions.

However I have not been able to enter in the amount of PAYG instalments I’ve made during 22-23 on my tax return.

as such I have not submitted my return yet.

I think I may be entitled to more of a refund.

can someone help with advice on how my PAYG instalments will be factored in?

Hello @BDL731

We do add the payments made by you, but not in that first stage of your online estimate.

As mentioned prior, we add them after you lodge, and you'll see the credit once you receive your NOA.

Here's an update on the page linked in prior responses to this question. Understand your MyTax estimate.

Hi @FergusV

Lodge your return because what @Glenn4802 said is right. We'll apply your PAYG instalments after you lodge. You'll see the credit for them on your notice of assessment when its issued.

I had a similar question this year, but decided to lodge anyway (assuming it would be deducted at the end). This is not entirely clear though and I can see why the OP was reluctant to file without this information present. I can’t understand why the ATO can gather and compile data from my employer, my banks, my super fund, and my health insurance but can’t add the payments I’ve made directly to them to my tax filing. 🤦‍♂️
