Hello ATO community, my question below is regarding the import tax which I believe is being charged twice on the same product.
I have an online store with eBay in Australia where I sell products sourced from all around the world. In my recent sell, where the product was sourced from AliExpress (China) and sold in Australia. I paid a 10% GST at AliExpress during the sourcing process. AliExpress gave the following justification for this amount.

From 1 July 2018, Australian goods and services tax (GST) 10% will apply to each order valued at A$1,000 or less, and AliExpress is required by law to collect such GST and remit to Australian Taxation Office. Now, I sold this product to an Australian-based customer via eBay platform. eBay has apparently charged the same 10% of the total amount by naming it “Import Tax” to the customer. To my understanding, eBay should not charge this amount as an Import Tax of 10% was already paid by the seller, myself, while sourcing the product internationally from AliExpress.
My questions below:
Is this practice of eBay lawful and justified in any manner?
Or, can I request eBay to revert their “Import Tax” fee and make the adjustments?
If not, can I claim back the 10% Import Tax which I paid while sourcing? Because an Import Tax has been paid at least once, for the same product, by the customer at the end of whole process.
Moreover, eBay has charged me for their service, and GST on their service fee in a separate adjustment while fulfilling this order.
A feedback will be helpful and greatly appreciated in all means.
Thank you.
