Hi @Tascooks3,
You can claim your unclaimed super from 2013 by first checking whether we’re holding it for you. If your super has been transferred to the ATO as unclaimed super, it will show in your ATO online services account, where we can match it to your tax file number.
As you’re 73 years old, there’s an important point to be aware of. If unclaimed super is transferred to us from a super fund, we may make a direct lump sum payment to your bank account, which means the money leaves the superannuation system. If you’d prefer that any unclaimed super we receive is paid into a super fund instead, you can set up a super fund nomination with us before we receive it.
To check if we’re holding your super, you can:
- log in to your myGov account and access ATO online services
- select ‘Super’, then ‘Information’, then ‘Unclaimed super’ to see if we hold any amounts for you
- update your bank account details in ATO online services (select ‘My profile’, then ‘Financial institution details’) so we can pay you if applicable.
If we’re not holding your super, it may still be with Ausfund. In that case, you’ll need to contact Ausfund directly to claim it, using the member number from your 2013 letter. You can also use the super health check in ATO online services to help locate all your super accounts.
Check your ATO online services account to see whether we’re holding your unclaimed super and ensure your bank details are up to date. If you want any future unclaimed super transferred to a super fund instead of being paid directly to you, you can contact us to set up a super fund nomination. If you don’t have online access, you can call our super enquiries line.
