I am trying to pay my personal PAYG tax account on the ATO website. I got as far as putting in my credit card details then got a message "An error has occurred - We are currently experiencing technical difficulties. We apologise for any inconvenience. Try again later." Etc. I can see that others have had the same problem. I checked my bank account and my credit card has indeed been debited. However, how do I check whether the ATO has received the payment as I have no confirmation?

You can check whether we've received your payment by logging into your ATO online services and viewing your account. Payments you make through our online services can take up to 4 business days from the day you make the payment to be received by us and appear on your ATO account.


If your credit card has been debited but you received a technical error message, the payment may still be processing. You'll need to wait the full 4 business days before checking your ATO account again to see if the payment has been applied.
