Thank you for this, therefore is it irrelevant whether I have stayed in Australia 6 months of more of the calendar year?

I don't understand your question and how it is related to your tax return.
I understand that a person may remain a tax resident of Australia if resident for 183 days in a year: https://www.ato.gov.au/individuals-and-families/coming-to-australia-or-going-overseas/residency-tests/residency-the-183-day-test
My question is if this impacts the tax residency post permanent departure, meaning that I would then have to submit the final tax return the subsequent year. Thank you for any advice 😊
The 183 day test is a test of residency for those individuals who are actually in Australia. Residency tests used by Australian residents when leaving Australia are the resides test and the domicile test.
