May 15 is a concessional date given to tax agents to lodge tax returns for their clients. Have you spoken to your tax agent about this change?

If you are no longer the client of your tax agent then the lodgment due date will revert back to October 31.

Some information below

I haven't spoken to my tax agent since our last transaction last year. Ive only used this tax agent once. could they have dropped me as a client? what if I change my accountant and go with someone else now? this reverted due date is so distressing!!

Best to contact your tax agent and ask them why the date has changed. Changing tax agents won't change the date back to May 15. From the link provided in prior reply under "Registered tax agent due dates for tax returns"

"If you're using a tax agent for the first time, or using a different tax agent, you should contact them before 31 October to be part of their lodgment program"

If you are expecting a refund after lodgment then late lodgment is usually not an issue.
