I have a super fund in Australia with AMP and am looking to bring the funds within it back to UK. I left Australia - where I was on a subclass 457 working visa up to 2008 and have no plans to live / retire in Australia. I am a UK resident and tax payer.

Hi - apologies as this saved quicker than expected. My question is - how do I bring these funds back to UK?
Hi @NeuillyMCEJS5,
It really depends how you entered and left Australia.
There are limited circumstances where someone can access their super balance before retirement.
For certain people who are only in Australia temporarily, they may be eligible for the Departing Australia Superannuation Payment (DASP). In a nutshell it means they can have their super paid out once they permanently leave Australia.
But, if you weren’t on an eligible temporary visa and don’t qualify for DASP, your super is subject to the normal conditions of release. This can also apply to people who no longer live in Australia.
Based on what you've said, you may be eligible for DASP because you were on a temporary 457 visa. Have a read through our DASP webpage for more info and instructions. We also have an article about claiming DASP that you may find helpful.
