Hi ATO,

I have been trying to link the ATO to MyGOV for quite some time now. [Removed by moderator] months ago I requested for myID to be deleted. It has. However, whenever I attempt to link the ATO with a linking code, it doesn't provide me this option and still talks about "MyID" not being strong enough. I no longer have MyID and it doesn't exist. How do I link you now?

Make the MyID again

"If you access Australian Taxation Office through myGov

If you sign in to myGov using your Digital ID and access ATO online services, you need to continue using this sign in option to access ATO online services.

This only affects access to ATO online services through myGov. You can still access other linked services in myGov using your myGov sign in details, such as your username and password."

I do not want to create a new digital ID. Hence why I've asked for it to be deleted. And it since has.

Is there no other option?

Hi @megscarr,

@YellowPotato is right – A linking code alone won’t work without myID, which is why you’re still seeing that message. This is because a high level of identity verification is needed to protect your tax info and prevent unauthorised access.

To fix this, you’ll need to create a new myID and verify your identity. Once that’s done, you will be able to link the ATO.
