Hi there,

I have a main place of work (as listed on my employment contract) and I work there all year. As part of this job, I am required to do frequent work at another location during some periods of the year (all up, I would say about 5 months of the year). I pay for parking at the 2nd location. I am not there every day but during busy periods, I can be there 6 times a week. This is mixed in with being at my usual work location (going in between venues).

Can I claim tax on the parking fees at the 2nd location?

Thank you!

Parking is a travel expense.

"You can claim a deduction for parking fees and tolls you incur when you use your car or other vehicle for work-related purposes"

Expenses for parking, tolls, accidents, licence and fines | Australian Taxation Office

Hyperlink "work-related purposes" includes travel between 2 jobs.

Trips you can and can't claim | Australian Taxation Office

If you can claim the cost of using your vehicle to travel to your work location then you can claim the cost of parking it. Claimed at D2 on tax return (work-related travel expenses)
