I’ve purchased a property to live in, I didn’t realize the contract indicated that Land tax is adjustable so my understanding is with signing the contract I agreed to adjust on a one off payment in respect of the Vendor’s liability for land tax. I’m still waiting for vendor to provide the assessment notice. Settlement is taking place on 4th of May. My question is that do I need to claim the principal place of residence exemption prior to settlement, or is this something that should be done after settlement?

Doubt this forum can help. Your question has nothing to do with the ATO.

Land tax is a state tax. You will need to speak with your State Revenue Office.
