i have received a DASP cheque from ATO in Australian dollars. I am in the UK and my bank doesn’t accept foreign cheques. I don’t have access to an Australian bank account. Are there any other alternatives to be able to receive the funds?

Try setting up an Australian bank account online (many such as Macquarie for example allow certified copies of ID instead of in person sighting) and then get the cheque reissued as a digital transfer. Or check with international banks such as HSBC to see if you could bank an Australian cheque in a UK HSBC account if you were to set up a UK bank account with them.
Hi @calum.darby,
DASP payments are made either to an Australian bank account in your name by cheque, or international money transfer (IMT) – but this is only for applications to super funds. There isn’t an option to have a DASP paid directly to an overseas bank account.
If you’ve received a cheque and your overseas bank won’t accept it, the alternatives are limited to:
- depositing the cheque into an Australian bank account in your name
- using a financial institution or service that can process foreign cheques on your behalf.
