When my tax agent lodges my returns, he has access to all my accounts, interest generated etc. How do I see all my accounts and if I opened a new bank account, how do I add this to the list?

Hi @ssahib,

Your tax agent doesn’t access your bank account information directly. Banks report interest income to us when you provide your tax file number (TFN). This is how your agent sees interest information for your tax return.

When you open a new account, provide your TFN to the bank. They’ll report any interest earned and it will appear in your pre-filled tax data.

You can view your pre-filled interest information by logging into ATO online services.

  1. Log in to myGov
  2. Go to Services > Australian Taxation Office
  3. Select Tax > Lodgments
  4. Open last year’s income tax return
  5. Go to Interest (bank and financial institution interest).
