I was an employee of a company that went into liquidation. I earnt a large salary from them over the 2023 tax year and they did not report any of my earnings or tax withheld during that year to the ATO. I lodged my tax return with correct figures of my earnings and tax withheld however the ATO rejected my tax lodgement. I have since reached out to the ATO and they are not accepting my lodgement. I thought it was my employers responsbility to withhold the appropriate tax etc. and this should not effect me? Why is the ATO not accepting the earnings position that I have reported and given evidence for?

Hi @Hawkerv,

You'll need to contact us directly to resolve this situation. When an employer goes into liquidation and hasn't reported your earnings or tax withheld to us through Single Touch Payroll, we can't automatically match the information you're providing in your tax return with our records. This is why your lodgment was rejected.
