Hi im working in Australia from 2024 - 2026, now im back to my home country and i want to claim my SUPER. I read from the forum that before i going back is better to fill the DASP form first so i can just submit it when i departed from Australia and thats what i did.

But when i already back to my home country and i want to submit it, the form gave me secret question that slightly different from what i can remember so i tried my best to fill it but unfortunately i failed 3 times, then i tried again and failed a few more times.

When im looking around they suggest me to call ATO to reset the secret question. Then from my home country with international charge i call ATO (well honestly it was my mistake to forgot my secret question i know) but its been a month from when i call ATO and i just dont get anything back. I also see at other threads the guy wait 6 months and ATO still didnt reset their DASP application. My question is it is so hard to just reset the Form? why dont just have option to reset or start a new form if just reset the form took forever? anyone also can help me with this? i need the money and its also my hard earned legal money while im working in Australia, its not like im stealing the money.

Thankyou

Hi @Yan35,

The secret question in the DASP online system protects your super. When you return to the system, you must enter the same personal details and correctly answer the secret question you originally set.

If you’ve answered the secret question incorrectly multiple times, you can’t reset it yourself. You also can’t start a new application, as the system links your TFN, name, passport details and date of birth to your existing claim.

You’ve asked us to reset your secret question. This can take time because we need to verify your identity. If it’s been a month since you called, you can contact us again to follow up.

If you have a trusted friend or family member in Australia, you can nominate them as an authorised contact to speak with us on your behalf and reduce international call costs.

Alternatively, you can submit a paper DASP application form (NAT 7204, PDF 287KB) directly to your super fund. This bypasses the online system entirely. However, your super fund may charge a fee depending on your super balance, and you'll need to provide certified copies of your identification documents.

To follow up on your secret question reset request, call us again to check the status. Consider setting up an authorised contact in Australia to help with communications or use the paper application form as an alternative way to claim your DASP.
