Hi,

I m a sole trader, registered ABN on 16/3/2026, I will be reporting BAS quarterly by myself

When should I submit the first BAS ?

I have checked ATO online portal, but I could not find any place to lodge BAS

In my "Activity statements" page, in "For action" part there is "No outstanding lodgments."

I have searched other pages of the portal, there is nowhere for me to lodge either.

May I know how could I lodge ?

Are you registered for GST?

You don't mention that you are registered for GST. If you haven't registered for GST then there would be no outstanding lodgements.

Hi @abcpsp,

Having an ABN doesn’t automatically mean you have a BAS to lodge. A BAS is only issued if you’re registered for taxes that are reported through it, such as GST, PAYG withholding or PAYG instalments. If you’re not registered for any of these, your account will show ‘No outstanding lodgments’, and there won’t be anywhere to lodge a BAS yet.

If you’re registered for GST and report quarterly, your BAS will be issued automatically and will appear in ATO online services about 2 weeks before the end of the quarter. You can’t create or lodge a BAS until it’s been issued to you.

So, the key thing to check first is whether you’ve actually registered for GST (or other tax roles). If you’re not registered, there’s nothing to lodge right now.

Hi Nikki,

Thanks for your help.

There was a typo. I registered GST recently on 16/3/2026

Hi @abcpsp,

As you're registered for GST from 16 March 2026, you're first BAS due date was 28 April 2026. But, if you're not able to view your activity statement in online services, you'll need to give our business team a call. We'll check the registration details to make sure everything is set up correctly, and we can re-issue your BAS.
