You didn't mention how you report the income for the contractor? Via STP2, via TPAR? Then you use the standard process to amend:
- STP2 amendment for prior FY - when you need to correct data
- TPAR amendments - the usual process to amend when you have to correct data
As you have an obligation to correct data you have reported if you identify that it's incorrect 🤓
That obligation must be met, regardless of the taxpayer tax return status 😉
