For the purposes of the new CGT and negative gearing rules, what is the definition of a new build? Is building on a block that has previously had a house considered a new build? The house has been demolished years ago. Is there a time frame from when the house has been demolished to when a new house is built for it to be considered a new build?

If someone bought a block, demolished the house, then on sold the block due to change of plans to someone else who then builds on it, is that considered a new build for tax purposes?

Thanks in advance.

There's no answer right now, at this stage it's only an announcement

You would need to wait for the draft bill to have a rough idea of the definition. And wait for it to pass parliament to know exactly what the definition is
