I lodged my tax return on 14/07/25 it is now 30/05/26 this is the longest turn around I have ever experienced my progress has stayed as “balancing account” for about 3 months now. I’ve tried calling up to get clarification and I can’t speak to a real person all I get is “input your tfn” and then the call says what the website says and hangs up

The 'balancing account' status means we have the result of your tax return and we're working out your refund or bill amount based on your account balance. If you have a debt or a credit with us or another Australian Government agency, it'll be taken into account at this stage. Your return will still take a few more days while we review your accounts.
If your return hasn't been processed within our committed timeframe and you're unable to get through to speak with someone, lodging a complaint may be the best next step. You can call the complaints line, use a registered Australian tax agent to lodge on your behalf, or lodge an online complaints form to us.
