Hi @SuperK,

AMIT cost base adjustments form part of the cost base calculation for units held in the AMIT.

For a CGT event I2 situation, the treatment of AMIT cost base net amounts can depend on:

  • the timing of the deemed disposal
  • the attribution period covered by the AMMA statement
  • whether the AMIT adjustment relates to units held at the time of the CGT event
  • how the fund reports the amounts.

Your AMMA statement and the fund’s tax guide should help explain:

  • the attribution period covered
  • how AMIT cost base adjustments are calculated
  • whether adjustments are intended to apply to all units held during the income year or only units held at year end.

Thanks for your response @NikkiATO.

The AMMA statement covers the full financial year, and I assume for all units held - have no evidence otherwise. The statement simply provides a value for:

AMIT cost base net amount - shortfall (increase cost base)

Given it's a CGT I2 event (nothing actually sold), the ETF provider would have calculated based on the units being held for the full financial year.

I gather apportioning would not be deemed an acceptable method? Any suggestions?
