We are an incorporated NFP choir that has been in existence for 30 years. We are now applying for an ABN so we can for grant funding. We are at the question "Reason for application" and not sure what to select. Do we select "receive payment for services"? as nothing else seems appropriate. (Then the next question is about personal services???. What do we answer for this)

Thank you

Hi @JuliaPA,

Yes, you should select 'receive payment for services' as your reason for application. This option is appropriate for NFP organisations that need an ABN to interact with other businesses or receive grant funding.

After selecting this option, you'll see a question about personal services income. This question is designed for individual contractors and businesses providing personal services. Your NFP choir is not providing personal services, so you should answer 'no' to this question. The question appears automatically in the application process but doesn't apply to your organisation's circumstances.

You can apply for your ABN online for free through the Australian Business Register. Have your organisation's documents and details ready when you apply. Once you receive your ABN, you'll also need to consider your organisation's tax status and whether you need to lodge an NFP self-review return annually.
