I moved permanently to New Zealand in 2019, so I no longer have access to my Australian phone number or bank account.

I can still log in to myGov and have received a message saying that my end-of-year income statement has been finalised by my employer. However, I can't link my myGov account to the ATO.

I've called the ATO and tried to verify my identity, but I wasn't able to because I don't have any current Australian identity documents, and my passport expired more than three years ago. The officer I spoke with recommended that I submit a paper form to update my details.

I'm a bit worried that I may not be able to lodge my tax return because I can't access my ATO account to view my income statement or tax information.

Could you please let me know what I should do next?

Thanks for your help.

You can try calling ATO about removing MyID requirement but I don't know if you can remove the requirement of using MyID if you had used it to log into ATO

"Once you’ve accessed ATO online services using your myID, you must always access ATO online services using your myID. This is because it’s the most secure access method."

Otherwise, it would have to be paper or tax agent to lodge tax return
