I submitted my Tax Return on July 15. It has been nearly 6 weeks and I have received zero communication from the ATO as to the progress of my return. Can someone please help me? I have called and called and called and no one can answer me. I just want to know what is wrong and why the return is taking so long. Why is it so hard to get in touch with someone at the ATO?

Hi @tfalks

I can appreciate your frustration with the delay in your return being processed.

If you haven’t already done so have a look at our Where’s my tax return article on our community page this can provided some additional info on the stages a return goes through.

There are times when a return may take longer than expected. Our Why there may be a delay in processing your tax return page can give you some info on what the delays can be contributed to. It doesn’t always mean something is wrong.

While we don’t have access to your records from our community page, we’re not able to investigate the delay for you. I do understand you’ve tried to reach us, 8am can be a quieter time for our individual team to investigate this for you and escalate if needed.

Also check your myGov inbox in case we have sent you a letter electronically, this can sometime be missed.
