Hi!
I think my employer paid too much taxes as PAYG and I don't know how to claim this money back.
Situation:
I'm a working holiday maker
I worked 2 jobs at the same time.
however I only earnt a total of ~7000 AUD (gross income) in the fiscal year, for which my employer paid ~1770 AUD in taxes (PAYG). This corresponds to a ~25% tax on my income, which seems too much.
Of note, only one employer was applying a PAYG rate 27%, while the other applied 15% PAYG taxes.
As I understand I should have only paid 15% because I am well below the threshold for the higher taxation rate (32.5% when total income per year is >45,000).
Now, I want to file a tax return to claim this money back. So, I follow this https://www.ato.gov.au/About-ATO/Contact-us/?=redirected_atoo_indcontact#contactUsToolHeading (I do have working MyGov account linked to ATO)
When I navigate to "Tax" > "Lodgments" > "Income Tax" I do not have the option to "Select Prepare for the tax return year you would like to lodge" because I get this under Not Lodged: "No tax returns are due at this time."
How can I proceed?
