I downloaded the app, and added two pieces of ID and now have Basic strength (I don't recall being asked what strength I wanted). However, I need Standard strength and cannot seem to find anywhere in the app to add additional ID documents? Or, is it possible one of my ID documents has yet to be verified? Can this take some time?

Oh thats odd! Once you verify two identity documents that should take you to standard strength. My guess is that one of those identity documents didn't actually verify properly. The verification process is instant, usually the app will tell you straight away if a document was successfully verified or not. You should be able to see options on the main screen to add other identity documents (you can see the list of available documents here).
If you're seeing any errors or having issues the help page might have an an answer for you as well.

What if you are not eligible to the other documents listed? You are not australian, not citizen, doesn't have an australian drive licence, not eligible to a ImmiCard and only hold a temporary visa?

You'll need at least 2 Australian identity documents to reach standard strength for your myGovID.
