Hi there, I live in New Zealand and am considering a remote role working for an Australian employer. I will continue to live in New Zealand, but will be paid from Australia. How will I be taxed? What tax rate will I pay? What things do I need to consider? Will I be taxed in Australia and in New Zealand? Thankyou for your help.

Hi @Janet678,

If you'll be a New Zealand resident working remotely for an Australian employer, you won't pay tax in Australia. There is no obligation for an Australian employer to withhold tax from payments made to foreign residents where the work is done overseas. This means your Australian employer won't withhold any tax on your behalf. However you and your employer may have tax obligations in NZ, so you'd need to speak with the relevant taxing authority in NZ to find out.
