I work as a receptionist.

I have bought a new phone.

could I use it to claim tax deduction as I mainly use it to communicate my team at work.

You can claim the use of your mobile phone providing it is a requirement to perform your work-related duties.


You must be able to substantiate the work-related use. And have a record of your expenses showing how you calculated your work-related calls and data.


You can only claim the work-related portion of your expenses as a deduction.


If you check out our Mobile phone, mobile internet and other devices page it will guide you on how to calculate your deductions and keeping records.
