Hi There,

An electrical compliance check indicated that the wiring in a section of my investment property is non-compliant. I have since undertaken the rewiring to ensure compliance. Should I claim it as repair or capital works?

Thanks in advance.

HI yliew,

It is a judgement call and will depend on the extent of the rewiring and the size of the "section"

If it's just a few specific areas and the majority of the wiring remains untouched, then it is likely to be a repair.

If it's the majority of the wiring in the house then it will be capital
