I have a small amount left on my HECS debt and want to pay it off early. I am aware that the ATO used to provide a discount if this occurred. Does this still happen?

Hi @rubbagunnie,
There used to be incentives to make voluntary repayments to HECS debts. At this stage there are no government incentives geared towards voluntary payments. If you pay out the amount early. You would reduce the amount of indexation that gets applied on the 1st of June the following year. If you have any other questions check out our paying your HECS HELP student loan info.
