Hello,


I lodged my tax return on 5/07/2023, and saw my "Income Tax for the period from 01 Jul 22 to 30 Jun 23" was credited at $X and then later stated "Cancellation of Tax return Individuals - Income Tax for the period from 01 Jul 22 to 30 Jun 23" that was debited at the same $X.


It states that my tax return has been issued but at $0. Can someone explain why this is and why my tax return has been cancelled and my balance becomes Debit?


I am not in Australia so cannot phone ATO without it costing a lot of international charges.

No need to stress this is normal and doesn’t indicate an issue!


While your return is still in progress this can happen. If you lodged an amendment, or we needed to look over something again, your return can be cancelled. The debit is applied in the cancellation transaction simply to remove the credit on the account while we process it further.


We'll call you if there is an issue or if we need some more information. We have a great article where’s my tax return? which explains each stage your return will go through, it’s definitely worth a read!

Hello Yiana,


It states my tax return has been completed and returned back to me. The value is still £0. How can I get in contact with someone to explain why this is without having to call as the international call rate is extortionate
