Before I was eligible for GST, I charged the company I worked for Labor (which is hours I worked) and expenses (fuel, accommodation etc), so the total income I receive would be labour+expenses, then I would just subtract expenses from that, so my total income would just be the labor, and I would pay tax on that.

Now, I have to include GST, so where does that fit in. Should I just charge GST on just my Labour or my expenses as well (I.E. GST on my total income which is Labour + expenses)?

Hi Haidersha

This can get tricky and I recommend you seek advice from a tax agent.

In General:

You charge GST on the full amount of your invoice. (Which is your labour plus expenses)

You are eligible to claim back the GST you paid on the expenses.
