I am an Australian citizen and will be moving overseas for work longterm for an OS employer. I will be a non resident for tax purposes (cutting ties with Australia, renting out my house, still paying mortgage and not returning anytime soon). An International health insurance is required for an expat situation but the insurer is asking for country of residency (Citizenship/passport). Will this make me a resident for tax purposes in Australia? I believe this question is asked by the insurer for the event if repatriation is necessary and what will happen with taxation and re-entering medicare in that case. TIA

Hey @Icke
This wouldn’t make you an Australian resident for tax purposes as you need to meet one of the residency tests to be a resident or tax purposes.
