I am retiring next year. Plan to make a $10000 contribution towards my son's outstanding HECS study loan. Will this amount be considered as gifting thereby affecting my pension payment.

Hi @SMRTRSW,
Pension requirements are more of a question for Services Australia - they have a bit of information about what gifts are included in income and asset tests on their website. Paying off your child's HECS isn't mentioned specifically on there so you may need to enquire with them to make sure.
