 if on the carers payment or carers allowance and your income is under 18200 do you need to lodge a tax return?

Hey @elbow,


If the carers payment is the only income, you've received and you've had no tax withheld then you may not need to lodge a tax return, but you may still need to advise us of this.


A carers payment is a taxable payment. If you've received other income, you're going to need to declare the carers payment on your tax return.


We'd suggest using the do I need to lodge tool that's available on our website it will help you to determine whether your required to lodge or not.
