Hey there,

i am the owner of a sole trader business, this is currently my only income (via owner drawings). I am looking at picking up a few hours a week at another job, where I will be on that businesses payroll.

Will I get taxed at the higher rate for the second job, as if I am it’s probably not worth it for me, so want to make sure before I commit to it.

And am i right in thinking, the earnings from this job will be added to the overall income, along with my owner drawings for my personal tax return at the end of the year?

many thanks

Hello @Steineyes,

You will not be taxed at a higher rate. Your income at the end of the year will be added together to make your assessable income and you will be taxed on that amount. The only way you would get taxed more is if you went over an income tax bracket which would be the same situation if your sole trader business increased its profits.
