We are POA for my mother. We have sold her home in order to pay for her care. We are required to get a clearance certificate for the vendor. My mother has been using a different spelling of both her birth and middle names for years thus all legal documents are using the same names but with different spelling. However the clearance certificate we have applied for uses her original names (Allison Molly) and these are different to the ones on the title ( Alison Mollie) of the house we have sold. Is this something we can solve easily? Do the names on the title and the clearance certificate need to be identical?
Hi @JaneCarrie,
The FRCGW clearance certificates get issued with the name we have on record. If they do not match the title of the property, this could cause delays.
If the name needs to be updated. If it is your mothers legal name and she has the appropriate documents. The name can be updated on our systems.
If your mum is unable to update her name. If you have POA. You can request these changes if you have advised us of the POA. If you haven't done that yet. You can complete a change of details for individuals form including the POA.
We have a great page on how to update your name you may find helpful.
