I am writing to seek clarification on my tax obligations as an individual and sole trader in Australia. My income streams include earnings from food delivery services such as Uber Eats and Doordash, as well as rental income from properties I own.
I have reviewed some information, but I would appreciate your guidance on the following points:
Goods and Services Tax (GST):
I have read that Uber Eats delivery partners may not be required to register for GST if their annual turnover is below $75,000. Is this information accurate, and are there any specific criteria I should meet to be exempt from GST?
Are there any GST obligations for income earned through Doordash or other delivery platforms?
Business Activity Statement (BAS):
If I am not required to register for GST or if my annual turnover is below $75,000, do I still need to lodge a BAS? Are there any circumstances in which I would need to file a BAS voluntarily?
Do I need to lodge BAS for my rental income?
If possible, please provide any relevant links or documents where I can find detailed information about these matters on the ATO website.
Thank you in advance for your assistance, and I look forward to your response.
Sincerely,
