I have applied for a Medicare Entitlement Statement (MES) but I am not sure I will receive it before the end of October. I was wondering what are my options to claim the Medicare levy exemption in my tax return?
Could I lodge my tax return (without MES) first and then claim the Medicare levy exemption once the statement becomes available? Alternatively, could I claim the Medicare levy of the current financial year in my tax return of next year? Lastly, would it be worth requesting an extension to lodge my tax return?
I would highly appreciate it if I could get some advice on this matter.
