The bank deducted withholding tax because they had not asked for my TFN when I opened the account. This is the only tax I have had withheld all year and as a pensioner I do not have to lodge a tax return. I've checked my ATO account and nothing appears to show that I've paid this tax, so I don't know how to claim it back.

As a pensioner, you should be able to lodge this form, @paulcooke : Australian resident investor - refund application for tax file number (TFN) amounts deducted. (If it doesn't apply to you, you will need to lodge a tax return.)
