Hey Guys, I use Facebook Advertising for my Business and I am registered for GST. I have also added by ABN details on Facebook. In the tax invoices I get from Facebook, there is no GST included in the invoice. The thing I am confused is that Can I claim gst back on that? Because the invoice does have an abn: [Removed by moderator] 059 ( Meta ) which is registered for GST. So I am confused if facebook is taking GST from the money I pay them as technically they have ABN so they should. So in this case can I claim that gst back or not?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Hey @nick0097,

That's a great question and we understand how it can be confusing.

It appears that if your registered for GST and add your ABN to your Facebook account then Facebook won't add GST to the purchase of Facebook ads.

As they aren't charging you GST then you can't claim any GST credits.

Check out the information we've got on our website about how to charge GST on imported services and digital products.

Sorry to piggy back of this question @AnitaATO, but does the above scenario mean that there will be no statement on the invoice about GST? We've had a request from our finance team to have GST information included on our advertising invoices, however if FB aren't charging GST it sounds like that info wouldn't show. Can you clarify and possibly advise what info we can't pass on to finance to explain? Thanks!
