I have units in two managed funds (2 x C class ana 1 global equities). I've never claimed any deductions for the management fees, but noted that on the ATO site there is a mention that fees may be claimed?

If you mean the fees charged inside the fund, then they have already been claimed by the fund - they are a fund expense, not a unit holder expenses.

If management fees are claimable, e.g. in a wrap account, these will be shown separately on the tax statement as claimable by investor.
