Hello team,


I am a Citizen of Australia & working in an Australian employer. As I am working from Home at the moment, I wanted to visit another country & working at the same time remotely like I work within Australia.

Is there any rule which limits the number of days that I can stay in another country & maximum how many days can I work from another country? I have a plan to visit another country for 8 weeks where I am planning to work for 4 weeks from there & avail 4 weeks of leave.

Please let me know if there would be any rule of taxation for me or for my employer which might not allow me to work from overseas for this duration.

The primary thing that affects most people if they stay in other countries for too long is that they will no longer be considered Australian resident for tax purposes. You should take a look at the 4 residency tests as this should give you an idea on time frames specific to your own situation. The other thing that can affect you is that your employer may end up with obligations in the country you are visiting. You will need to see what rules apply and discuss accordingly with your employer.
