I have just started a 2nd job. My first role is in public health, where I can claim up to $11k through salary packaging (for which I claim my mortgage and meals/food expenses). I have just got a second job, which allows up to $15k in salary packaging. For this 2nd job, I have submitted my credit card, as the item I am claiming. This would, in total, mean that I can claim approx $26k (across the 2 part-time roles). Is this allowable? (I did see a post from ATO on this forum from 2020, saying there was no limit, but wanted to clarify this hasn't changed, as I could not see detailed info on this, on the ATO website (in the salary packing sections).

Additionally, how does this impact FBT? Would I go over some sort of threshold, with regards to FBT, thereby rendering the savings made on salpac'ing the second job, not worth it? (i.e. being charged increased FBT?)

thanks so much

Hi @MellieMel

We may not have the type of info you might be after because a salary sacrifice arrangement is between you and your employer. Lets see if I can give you some general info though. The benefits and thresholds usually relate to the type of employer you have. They pay fringe benefits tax based on the taxable value of the benefits they provide you. This may be reduced for them if you make contributions. Its best to take a look at the agreement you have to get a clearer picture. Its good to get financial advice before entering into an arrangement. Here's some info we have about salary sacrificing on our website.
