When do my salary sacrificing payments show up on my HECS HELP ATO transaction statement?

I started salary sacrificing my wage in October 2023 to repay my HECS/HELP loan. I have been getting statements from the salary sacrificing company showing that they have taken out the funds. But the repayments are not showing up on my ATO transaction list. Does this mean that the salary sacrificing company isn't paying my HECS/HELP debt back?

When I looked online I found that the compulsory HECS repayment happens at the end of each financial year. Is this the same for salary sacrificing a HECS debt? So do the salary sacrificing payments only get made to the ATO/show up on the transaction list at the end of each financial year?

Hi @kayla.d,

It might be best to speak to the salary sacrificing provider you're using to find out when they apply the payments to your HELP loan account.

We consider salary sacrificed payments to your HELP loan account as voluntary repayments.

Unlike compulsory repayments, voluntary repayments are applied to your account when we receive them (the transaction usually takes about 4 days to process). So, if they're being paid now, you should be seeing them in your transaction history about 4 days later and your total amount owing should be going down.
